When to Tutor

Most parents approach us for help because they want their child to receive a HAVO-level recommendation or higher. If you truly believe your child is capable of that, there is nothing wrong with it: I also prepared my own children as best as possible for their Cito tests. In my experience, parents usually have a good understanding of their child’s abilities.

When should you start with tutoring? Some parents wait until they receive a disappointing school recommendation at the end of group 7, after the preliminary test. At that point, there is little time left to make improvements, as the crucial LVS test in the middle of group 8 follows just a few months later. A more sensible approach is to check at the end of group 6 whether the LVS test results align with your expectations and, if necessary, contact us. For more information about these LVS tests, click here.

We also regularly receive requests for tutoring in the lower grades. While this is not our core business, we do offer it. However, we believe it is only necessary if a child has been struggling with reading or math for a long time and starts feeling inadequate as a result. An occasional lower Cito score in group 4 does not seem like a reason to panic.
